So our database is v14 but the Dentrix software on the server (Windows 2000) is v11 and when we run the maint.exe utility it tells us it can't because of the version mismatch. How do we work this out? I tried to run the G4 updates v6 and v7 but they won't install on Win2000- any suggestions most appreciated!

I'm having the same problem with 2 new workstations we just installed with Windows 7. We have a kodak 1500 intraoral camera running with dexis on Windows xp, but I can't get windows 7 to recognize it even after the driver software is installed. Dexis of course doesn't know why, any ideas or suggestions.

We still use a PC for that.

Maybe not the only fix but we have used this many times. Copy the C:\Program Files\Dentrix folder from a working computer. Probably only one file needed but we don't know which one.

I have just recently gotten the same problem after I switched a workstation over to a wireless connection. I figured it was the zone alarm firewall blocking the new IP address to the server so I disabled the firewall and antivirus. That did not work. I checked the network path everything looked ok and the network drive is connected. I switched back over to the wired lan connection and I'm still getting the incorrect filepath. All the other computers on the network work fine. I called dentrix tech support and they did not help at all. If anyone can help me fix this problem it would be much appreciated. My email is rhino61466@yahoo.com

You seem to be a Dentrix expert, so I'll throw out a question here that has me stumped:
I have installed Dentrix in a number of operatories in my wife's office (hooked up to the 'server' over a gigabit wired network). Dentrix in the ops works fine after installation, but reboot/logoff once and every subsequent attempt to start Dentrix results in "Unable to open database file".

I'm stumped! I ran ep.exe to update paths, I have a 'mapped' drive pointing to the data folder on the Dentrix server - what more could it want? Neither seems to fix the problem. The other thing I noticed using Process Monitor is that Dentrix is trying to open a file called "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dentrix\DataLok.dat". If they're indeed using a lock file to control write access to their flat-file DB, shouldnt it be pointing to the mapped server drive (Z:\Data in my case) instead??

Any ideas would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
Aakash
